How do you put on a condom?

A basic Step-By-Step guide for applying condoms

Putting a condom on in the correct manner is an important step you must take prior to sexual intercourse. If the condom is not put on properly you may risk pregnancy and the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Follow this simple guide on how to properly put on a condom:

  • Step 1 - Carefully open the condom packet, making sure not to rip or damage the condom in any way. Using your teeth to open the packet is a recipe for disaster.

  • Step 2 - Make sure your penis is fully erect first, then place rolled up condom on tip of penis.

  • Step 3 - Pinch and hold the tip of condom with one hand (to get rid of any air) and start to roll the condom down the shaft of the penis with the other hand and keep unrolling all the way to the base.

  • Step 4 - If the condom doesn't appear to be on correctly or has been damaged in any way, remove and dispose of condom immediately and start over with new condom

  • Step 5 - After ejaculation and while penis is still erect, withdraw from partner's body while holding condom in place at the base. Then remove condom, starting from the base and pulling up over the tip.

  • Step 6 - Once condom is fully removed make sure to keep it and your penis clear from contacting your partner's body. Dispose of the used condom in a hygienic matter. Do not attempt to flush down toilet, as it will float.
